
MAVERICKS RALLY TO DEFEAT CHARGERS BASEBALL
Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. (3/19/24) The Dominican University New York baseball team fell in non-conference action to host Mercy University, 16-3, this afternoon in a game played at Mercy Field.
Following the game the Mavericks improve to 9-11, while the Chargers fall to 5-15 on the season.
The Chargers took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning as Zowen Collins (Cobleskill, N.Y.) hit a run-scoring single to center field and Jeramiah Deanta (West New York, N.J.) followed with an RBI single to left field.
DUNY added to the lead in the sixth stanza as right fielder Andrew Smith (Hampton Bays, N.Y.) singled home Davin Keddell-Tuckey (Troy, N.Y.) to extend the lead to 3-0.
The Mavericks scored 12 runs on eight hits and four errors in the bottom of the seventh inning for their first lead of the game and added four runs in the eighth on three hits to jump out to a 16-3 lead and eventual win.
Keddell-Tuckey and Smith had two hits each in the loss with Keddell-Tuckey scoring two runs.
Reliever Maverick Medina (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) suffered the loss. Starter Jedadiah Trudeau (Cohoes, N.Y.) went six innings in the no decision, allowing one run on five hits and five strikeouts.
Dominican is scheduled to return to action on Saturday when they open up Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play at Bloomfield College of Montclair State University.
