
KEDDELL-TUCKEY AND SMITH EACH HOMER AND COMBINE FOR 8 RBIS AS THE CHARGERS SWEEP SEASON SERIES FROM BEARS
Pomona, N.Y. (4/1/24) The Dominican University New York baseball team downed the Bears of Bloomfield College of MSU in CACC action at Clover Stadium.
The Chargers sweep the season series over the Bears and improve to 10-17 overall and 5-2 in conference play. The Bears fall to 0-7 overall and 0-7 in the CACC.
The Chargers recorded eight hits including doubles from Joseph Torres (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) and Jake Chaisongkram (Chula Vista, Calif.). Davin Keddell-Tuckey (Troy, N.Y.) and Andrew Smith (Hampton Bays, N.Y.) each homered in the win and combined for eight RBIs.
Keddell-Tuckey and Ty Gilligan (Ringwood, N.J.) each scored three runs. Junior pitcher Isaiah Figueroa (Old Bridge, N.J.) recorded the victory to improve to 2-2.
The Chargers scratched across the first two runs of the game in the second inning after a wild pitch and an RBI groundout by Ryan Bongiorno (Stanhope, N.J.).
Two more runs came in after another wild pitch and an RBI-double by Chaisongkram gave DU the 4-0 lead.
Keddell-Tuckey's fourth inning grand slam down the right field line extended the lead to 8-0. Later Keddell-Tuckey drove in his fifth run of the game with an RBI-single. Torres followed with an RBI-double and Smith capped off a five run inning with a three run homer and the Chargers would secure the 13-0 victory.
DU returns to action Wednesday afternoon on the road when they visit Post University for a CACC match up at 3:00 PM.
