
EAGLES TOP CHARGERS IN CACC ACTION
Pomona, N.Y. (4/5/24) The Dominican University New York baseball team fell in conference action to the Eagles of Post University this afternoon at Clover Stadium.
With the loss the Chargers fall to 10-18 overall and 5-3 in conference play while the Eagles improve to 13-14 overall and 5-1 in the CACC.
Post recorded 18 total hits led by Justin Rivera who went 4-4 with two RBIs. Michael Pavelchak, Evan Cornwell, and Chris Corchado each finished with three hits.
The Chargers with 10 total hits as a team with David Knepper (Miami, Fla.) leading the way going 3-4. Jake Chaisongkram (Chula Vista, Calif.), Andrew Smith (Hampton Bays, N.Y.), and Ty Gilligan (Ringwood, N.J.) each finished with two hits. Tyler Richman (Sunrise, Fla.) added one hit and drove in one RBI.
Ryan Bongiorno (Stanhope, N.J.) and Chaisongkram each drove in two RBIs while Davin Keddell-Tuckey (Troy, N.Y.) drove in one RBI.
The game was scoreless until the third inning when Post took the lead on a Corchado RBI-single and in the fifth inning Justin Rivera singled in the second run of the game for the 2-0 lead.
A bases loaded walk by Bongiorno put the Chargers on the board and in the following inning Chaisongkram gave DU the lead with a two RBI-single.
Post rallied for eight runs in the seventh inning to extend to a 10-3 lead over the Chargers.
Dominican scored three runs over the next two innings but the Eagles were able to secure the 10-6 victory.
Maverick Medina (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) started on the hill for the Chargers and pitched a solid 5.2 innings allowing two runs and struck out three Post batters. Matt Semon tossed 5.1 innings for the Eagles and struck out four DU batters.
Game two was postponed until tomorrow as the Chargers will visit Post University for a doubleheader at 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM.
