PANTHERS COMPLETE COMEBACK VICTORY OVER CHARGERS
Pomona, N.Y. (4/16/24) The Dominican University New York baseball team fell in non-conference action to the Panthers of Adelphi University this afternoon at Clover Stadium.
The Panthers completed the five run comeback to earn a 10-9 victory and improve to 15-16 overall. The Chargers fall to 13-24 overall on the season.
Maverick Medina (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) started on the mound for the Chargers and tossed five innings earning four strikeouts.
Jacob Lee earned the win in relief throwing five innings and surrendered one run.
David Knepper (Miami, Fla.) and Joseph Torres (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) each finished with two hits. Knepper drove in one run while Torres drove in two runs.
Joseph Coppola (Cornwall, N.Y.) added a double that drove in two runs.
Trailing 9-4, the Panther completed the comeback scoring three runs in the seventh inning, two runs in the eighth inning, and the go ahead run in the top of the ninth inning.
Anthony Rigogliosi delivered the go ahead RBI-single to put AU ahead 10-9 in the top of the ninth.
The Chargers loaded the bases but Jacob Lee ended the rally by throwing a double play to complete the win.
James Eden finished 4-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored while Joe Pellegrino went 3-6 with two RBIs and three runs scored to lead the Panthers.
The Chargers are scheduled to return to conference play tomorrow when they travel to the University of Bridgeport for a CACC contest with the Purple Knights.
