North Wales, Pa. (4/21/24) The Dominican University New York baseball team suffered two losses to the Griffins of Chestnut Hill College in a CACC doubleheader this afternoon.
The Griffins opened the doubleheader with a 6-4 victory and followed with a 7-0 shutout victory in game two.
The Chargers fall to 14-28 overall and 8-12 in conference play while the Griffins improve to 13-26 overall and 9-13 in the CACC.
Game One: The Griffins opened the doubleheader with a 6-4 win in game one.
The Griffins jumped out in front with an RBI-single by Michael Pascoe for the 1-0 lead.
Jake Chaisongkram (Chula Vista, Calif.) connected for his second homer of the season to tie the game in the top of the second inning.
The Griffins took back the lead after Angus Moore singled in the second run and RJ Huth drove in the third run.
Joseph Torres (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) cut the deficit to 3-2 in the top of the third but the Griffins took a 5-2 lead after RBI-singles by Phoenix Bowman and Shawn Levan.
Torres tripled in two runs in the top of the fifth inning to cut the deficit to 5-4. Phoenix Bowman homered in the bottom of the fifth inning and the Griffins completed the 6-4 win.
Michael Pascoe threw five innings for the Griffins and earned the win while Marlon Rose recorded the save.
Maverick Medina (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) started game one for the Chargers but suffered the loss.
Game Two: The Griffins completed the sweep with a 7-0 victory in game two.
The Griffins jumped out to an early lead by scoring six runs over the first two innings.
Aiden Myers and Justin Geiger each drove in runs and later in the second inning Pascoe hit a three-run triple to extend the CHC lead to 6-0. Dylan Broderick added a solo homer for the 7-0 lead in the fifth inning and the score would remain.
The Chargers recorded seven total hits with Zowen Collins (Cobleskill, N.Y.) adding a double.
The Chargers return home Tuesday afternoon to host the Cougars of Caldwell University at 3:00 PM at Clover Stadium.
