Hockessin, Del. (4/28/24) The Dominican University New York baseball team dropped both games in their final CACC doubleheader of the season to the Lightning of Goldey-Beacom College this afternoon.
The Chargers fall to 15-33 overall and 9-16 in the CACC.
Game One: The Chargers fell in game one by a score of 13-5.
After falling behind 1-0 in the first inning, the Chargers rallied for four runs in the third inning highlighted by an RBI-single by Tyler Richman (Sunrise, Fla.) and an RBI-double by David Knepper (Miami, Fla.).
A seven run fourth inning propelled the Lightning to an 8-4 lead and later added four runs in the sixth inning on their way to the 13-5 victory.
For the Chargers, Knepper finished with two hits and one RBI while Jean Nunez (New York, N.Y.) and Anthony Nigro (Stony Point, N.Y.) each added two hits including doubles.
Maverick Medina (Pembroke Pines, N.Y.) suffered the game one loss while Kevin Dillon picked up the win in relief for the Lightning.
Game Two: The Lightning completed the sweep with an 11-3 win in game two.
The Lightning jumped out to an early 5-0 lead and added one more run in the third and four runs in the fourth innings. GBC added their 11th run in the sixth inning on their way to an 11-3 win.
The Chargers added one run in the third inning when Richman scored on a wild pitch and Jake Chaisongkram (Chula Vista, Calif.) smacked a two-run homer in the fourth inning.
Knepper finished with one hit and Bryant Bassett (Bronx, N.Y.) finished with one hit.
John Stoliker (Guilderland, N.Y.) suffered the game two loss while Mikey Hawbaker recorded the win for GBC.
The Chargers return to action on Tuesday against St. Thomas Aquinas College for their 2024 regular season finale and Senior Day.
