BASEBALL CLOSES OUT SPRING BREAK TRIP WITH VICTORY OVER PENMEN
Cary, NC (3/9/25) The Dominican University New York baseball team wrapped up their spring break trip this afternoon with a 4-3 victory over Southern New Hampshire University in a game played at the USA Baseball National Training Complex.
With the win, the Chargers improve to 4-4 on the season.
The Penmen led 1-0 through two and a half innings of play when Dominican got on the board as David Knepper stole home to knot the score 1-1.
DUNY struck for two runs in the bottom of the third stanza on back-to-back RBI singles from Pablo Guevara and Knepper to claim a 3-1 advantage.
SNHU got a run back in the top of the sixth, but the Chargers countered in the bottom frame as Knepper hit a run-scoring single to right field for a 4-2 lead.
A Penmen run in the eighth would be the final run of the contest and give Dominican the 4-3 win.
Knepper went 3-4 in the game with two RBIs, while Jaden Maia had two hits in the win.
Starter Samuel Herrera earned the win in five and 2/3 innings of work, allowing two runs on nine hits and four strikeouts.
Dominican is scheduled to return to action on Wednesday afternoon when they travel to Pace University.
