Philadelphi, Pa. (3/26/25) The Dominican University New York baseball team dropped both games in a CACC doubleheader on the road to the Rams of Thomas Jefferson University this afternoon.
The Rams took game one by a score of 9-4 and then game two 6-1 to improve to 15-7 overall and 7-1 in conference play. The Chargers fall to 12-11 overall and 6-6 in conference play.
Game One: The Rams opened the doubleheader with a comeback victory in game one.
After trailing 2-0, the Chargers scratched across their first run of the game after a bunt single by Ryan Bongiorno and then later tied the game on a sac fly by Erick Diaz.
Bongiorno later came around to score on an RBI-single by Jaden Maia to give DU the lead.
After the Rams tied the game in the bottom half of the fifth inning, the Chargers regained the lead in the top of the seventh after Diaz scored on a throwing error after stealing third base.
The Rams rallied for three runs in the seventh and three runs in the eighth on their way to the 9-4 win.
Maia finished with two hits while Byron Arias also added two hits. Kevin Hirsch added a double.
DU starting pitcher Tanner MacLean allowed four runs, three earned, and earned seven strikeouts while receiving the no decision.
Game Two: The Rams completed the sweep with a 6-1 win in game two. TJU scored five of their six runs through the first two innings.
Gabe Silva earned the win in game two for the Rams after six innings of shutout ball and struck out seven.
DU starting pitcher John Stoliker surrendered five runs, four earned, and struck out two while suffering the loss.
Juan Peralta scored DU's only runs of the game on a wild pitch in the seventh inning. Ty Gilligan and Bongiorno each recorded one hit. Bongiorno also added one stolen base.
The Chargers will return home this Saturday when they host the Lions of Georgian Court University for a conference doubleheader beginning at 12:00 PM from Clover Stadium.
