Lincoln University, Pa. (4/2/25) The Dominican University New York baseball team swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader from host, Lincoln University, in games played today at the LU Baseball Complex.
The Chargers won the first game, 8-1, and took the nightcap, 17-6.
With the win, Dominican improves to 18-11 overall and 12-6 in CACC play.
Game One: The Chargers got on the board in the top of the first on the RBI single to right field by Ian Labrador and added a run in the second on the groundout by Ryan Bongiorno for the early 2-0 advantage.
DUNY added three runs in the third on the RBI sacrifice fly ball off the bat of Labrador and Jean Nunez later followed with a two-run fielder's choice.
Bongiorno singled home a run in the top of the seventh inning and added two more runs in the eighth on an error and a run-scoring single from designated hitter Kevin Hirsch for the 8-0 lead. LU scored a run in the bottom of the eighth for the 8-1 final score.
Hirsch went 3-4 in the game, while Labrador went 2-3 with two RBIs.
Catcher Ty Gilligan, David Knepper and Jaden Maia had two hits a-piece, with Nunez and Bongiorno recording two RBIs each.
Tanner MacLean earned the win in eight innings of work, scattering one run on five hits and six strikeouts.
Game Two: Dominican pounded out 17 runs on 12 hits and scored runs in the first five innings en route to the 17-6 win.
Bongiorno went 4-5 in the game with five RBIs, while Maia went 4-4 with four RBIs.
Catcher Anthony Nigro had two hits and scored three runs in the win.
Starter John Stoliker earned the win in four innings of work, allowing one run on one hit.
Dominican is scheduled to return to action on Friday afternoon when they host Caldwell University.
