Newark, N.J. (4/5/25) The Dominican University New York baseball team extended their winning streak to 10 games after a two sweep over the Bears of Bloomfield College this afternoon.
Dominican improves to 22-11 overall and 16-6 in conference play.
Game One: The Chargers opened the doubleheader with an 18-1 victory.
Kevin Hirsch and Jaden Maia combined for five hits and 11 RBIs. Hirsch hit two three-run homers with his first one coming in the first inning which got the offense started. Maia picked up a two RBI-single in the third and a bases clearing three run double in the fourth.
Byron Arias recorded three RBIs after two bases loaded walks and a fielder's choice.
Game one starting pitcher Isaiah Figueroa pitched six innings of one run ball while striking out four batters earning his fourth win of the season.
Game Two: The Chargers followed up their win in game one with a 13-2 win in game two.
Juan Peralta led the way in game two going 2-4 with a double and a three-run homer. Jean Nunez added a two-RBI single while Ian Labrador added a sac fly and an RBI-single.
Erick Diaz and Kevin Hirsch each had RBI-doubles. Arias and Maia also drove in one run each.
Samuel Herrera took the mound in game two for the Chargers and earned his fourth win of the season after five innings. Herrera allowed two runs on four hits and struck out a season high 10 batters in the win.
The Chargers return home to Clover Stadium tomorrow afternoon as they continue their weekend series with the Bears.
