CHARGERS GOLF FINISH 12TH AT NCAA ATLANTIC/EAST REGIONAL
Wheeling, W. Va. (5/11/24) The Dominican University New York men's golf team completed the 2023-2024 season with a 12th place finish at the NCAA Atlantic/East Regional Tournament held at the Speidel Jones Course and hosted by West Liberty University.
The Chargers shot their best round of the tournament this afternoon, compiling a team score of 305, to move up three spots into 12th place out of 20 competing teams. Over the past three days, Dominican had team scores of 309, 308 and 305 for a 922 total score.
Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Rookie of the Year, Bruno Pardo (Mexico, City, Mexico), was the top finisher for the Chargers as he tied for 35th place out of 108 golfers with a three-day total of 229 (74, 78, 77).
Senior Nicolas Arrieta-Guerra (Bucaramanga, Colombia) moved up 15 places after today's round to tie for 25th place. In action today, Arrieta-Guerra had a birdie on hole 15 to finsh the round with a 76 score. Over the three days, he compiled scores of 81, 73 and 76 for a total score of 230.
Fellow senior Alexander Lundvall (Stockholm, Sweden) tied for 60th place with scores of 76, 82 and 77 for a three-day total of 235.
Brikke Decoster (Lebbeke, Belgium) had this best round of the tournament this afternoon with a 75 score. He birdie holes two and 11 to finish two strokes above par. He finished the tournament tied for 45th place overall with rounds of 78, 78 and 75 for a 231 total score.
Senior Alejandro Gomez Cervantes (Torreon, Mexico) completed the team scoring for the Chargers as he finished in 84th place with scores of 89, 79 and 90 for a 258 total score. In action today, Gomez Cervantes had a birdie on hole three.
The top five teams (Gannon University, University of Charleston, St. Thomas Aquinas College, Indiana University of PA and Post University) all advance to the NCAA Championship May 21-25 at the Orange County National Golf Center and Lodge in Winter Garden, Florida. The finals will be hosted by Rollins College and the Greater Orlando Sports Commission. Along with the teams, the top two student-athletes not with a team (Matin Eisa of Davis & Elkins College, Filip Wetterqvist of Adelphi) also advance to the finals.
