
DOMINICAN DOWNS ADELPHI IN SEASON OPENER
Orangeburg, N.Y. (11/13/24) The Dominican University New York men's basketball team downed the Panthers of Adelphi University in their season opener by a score of 63-41.
The Chargers get their first win in their season opener and hand the Panthers their first loss early on this season as they fall to 2-1.
The Chargers led the whole way and their largest lead of the game was 24 points. Dominican outscored the Panthers in the paint 30-16 and outrebounded AU 49-36.
The Chargers held a 10 point lead at halftime and used a 14-2 run early in the second half to take control of the game.
Dominican forced 19 Panther turnovers and manufactured 12 points off of AU turnovers.
Four Chargers finished the game in double figures. Chance Morrish led the way, off the bench, with 13 points going 6-10 from the field. Jaden Honis added 12 points while Emmanuel Smith picked up a double-double on 13 boards and 11 points.
Isaiah Honis provided 10 points and eight boards off the bench. Joshuel White scored seven points and recorded five boards and a team-high three steals. Juelz Dickerson also picked up five boards and scored six points.
The Panthers were led by Andres Fulgencio who scored 11 points while Dayshaun Walton picked up seven points. Nuha Sagnia recorded a team-high nine boards.
The Chargers return to action this weekend when they host the 12th Annual Daniel Sullivan Memorial Tournament on Friday and Sunday.
