DOMINICAN FALLS IN HIGH SCORING AFFAIR TO EAST STROUDSBURG UNIVERSITY ON DAY ONE OF THE 12th ANNUAL DANIEL SULLIVAN MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT
Orangeburg, N.Y. (11/15/24) The Dominican University New York men's basketball team fell to the Warriors of East Stroudsburg University in their first of two games in the 12th Annual Daniel Sullivan Memorial Tournament.
ESU improves to 3-0 overall while the Chargers fall to 1-1 overall.
The high scoring affair saw both teams reach triple digits with a 116-105 final score in favor of ESU.
The Warriors shot 46.9% from the field while the Chargers shot 50.7% from the field. ESU went 47.2% from three point range including 57.1% from distance in the opening half.
The Warriors jumped out to a 24 point lead in the first half which was their largest lead of the game.
Dominican answered with a 29-13 run to cut the deficit to single digits. The Warriors used a 16-6 run to end the opening half and held a 66-48 lead at halftime.
ESU extended their lead and matched their largest lead of the game with nine minutes left to play.
Dominican fought back again by using a 20-6 run to cut the deficit to ten points. Dominican cut the deficit to eight points with less than one minute to play but ESU held on down the stretch.
Koi Kirk Jr. and Jaden Honis combined for 42 points. Kirk Jr. went 7-14 from the field including one three pointer while Honis hit four threes and added 4-4 from the charity stripe.
Juelz Dickerson finished with 14 points while Emmanuel Smith scored six points and picked up a team-high six boards. Chance Morrish and Isaiah Honis each provided double figures off the bench. Isaiah Honis scored 10 points while Morrish finished with 13 points.
The Chargers return to action on Sunday when they host Franklin Pierce University for their second and final game of the 12th Annual Daniel Sullivan Memorial Tournament.
