
GREYHOUNDS UPEND CHARGERS IN 8TH ANNUAL MIKE COFFEY MEMORIAL GAME
Orangeburg, N.Y. (11/30/24) The Dominican University New York men's basketball team fell in non-conference action to the Greyhounds of Assumption University on Coach Baxter Court for the 8th Annual Mike Coffey Memorial Game.
The Greyhounds shot 57.6% from the field and 47.6% from beyond the arc to improve to 5-2 overall and extended their current win streak to five straight.
Dominican drops to 3-3 overall on the season.
Redshirt Senior center Emmanuel Smith led the Chargers in scoring with 14 points on 5-8 shooting. Reginald Dillard provided a boost off the bench with 11 points on 4-7 from the field including 3-3 from beyond the arc.
Jaden Honis scored nine points while picking up a team-high six assists. Michael O'Mahony, Elijah Peters, and Isaiah Honis each finished the game with eight points.
Key'Sean Maynard pulled down a team-high five boards.
The Greyhounds got off to a fast start in the opening half by extending to their largest lead of the game which was 27.
After trailing 40-13 with 8:28 remaining in the first half, Dominican made a strong push using a 23-8 run to cut the deficit to 48-36 by halftime.
The Greyhounds extended their lead to open the second but the Chargers went on a run to cut the deficit to single digits.
Assumption answered by extending their lead back to double digits on their way to the 98-81 victory.
Assumption was led by Daouda Dembele who scored 19 points and pulled down nine boards. Barilugbene Mawo scored 18 points on 8-11 from the field off the bench. Zamareon McCown finished with 16 points while Jamal Barnes and Luke Michalski each scored 15 points.
The Chargers will look to bounce back this Tuesday when they host Post University for their CACC opener at 7:30 PM in the Hennessy Center.
