
CHARGERS COMPLETE SECOND HALF COMEBACK OVER RAMS IN THE 17TH ANNUAL JAMES CLANCY MEMORIAL GAME
Orangeburg, N.Y. (1/4/25) The Dominican University New York men's basketball team earned a second half comeback victory in conference action over the Rams of Thomas Jefferson University.
In the 17th Annual James Clancy Memorial Game, the Chargers overcame a 14 point second half deficit to improve to 7-5 overall and 3-0 in the CACC on the season.
Junior guard Isaiah Honis recorded a double-double off the bench and scored a team-high 23 points while pulling down a team-high 11 boards. I. Honis finished the game shooting 8-17 from the field and 3-4 from beyond the arc.
I. Honis' brother Jaden Honis went 3-3 from beyond the arc for nine points all in the second half during the double digit comeback.
Center Emmanuel Smith scored 12 points and added nine boards while picking up two blocks. Koi D. Kirk, Jr. added 10 points off the bench while Elijah Peters scored eight points. Key'Sean Maynard recorded six boards while scoring six points and three assists.
Chance Morrish scored five points while Joshuel White pulled down eight boards.
The Chargers trailed by seven points by halftime and the Rams opened the second half strong by extending to their largest lead of the game which was 14.
Dominican came charging back using a 22-7 run over seven minutes to take their first lead of the game with 7:55 left to play.
Dominican shot 47.2% from the field in the second half adding five three-pointers. J. Honis hit three big three-pointers while I. Honis hit the other two from beyond the arc. Dominican outscored the Rams 47-35 in the second half.
The Chargers return to action on Tuesday night when they host Molloy University at 7:00 PM in the Hennessy Center.
