DOMINICAN UPENDS LIONS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (1/7/25) The Dominican University New York men's basketball squad upended the visiting Lions of Molloy University, 73-69, this evening in a non-conference contest played on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.
With the win, the Chargers improve to 8-5 on the season.
In a game that featured seven lead changes and four tied scores, Dominican capitalized on 17 Lion turnovers to net 23 points.
A Koi D. Kirk, Jr layup with 4:01 remaining in the first gave DUNY their biggest lead of the game, 39-22 and helped the team take a 43-32 advantage at the break.
Key'Sean Maynard hit a three-point basket with 10:38 left in regulation to give the Chargers the 56-48 lead, but Molloy rallied with 10 uanswered points to give them a 58-56 advantage.
Consecutive Lion free throws made the score 67-64 with a little over three minutes to play, but Dominican countered with six straight points to reclaim a 70-67 edge with 1:31 to go. Joshuel White closed out the scoring for the Chargers with two key free throws to secure the 73-69 victory.
Junior Isaiah Honis led three players in double figures with 15 points, five rebounds and four steals in the win.
Jaden Honis finished with 13 points, seven rebounds and three steals, while White tallied 12 points and four assists.
Freshman Tyler Edore pulled down a career high 11 rebounds with Maynard recording seven caroms and eight points.
Chance Morrish and Emmanuel Smith tallied eight points a-piece.
Dominican returns to action on Saturday afternoon as they travel to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent, Goldey-Beacom College.
