
JADEN HONIS AND SMITH COMBINE FOR 55 POINTS AS CHARGERS UPEND LIGHTNING
Wilmington, Del. (1/11/25) The Dominican University New York men's basketball team earned their fourth straight victory as they upended the Lightning of Goldey-Beacom College in CACC action.
Dominican improves to 9-5 overall and 4-0 in conference play while the Lightning fall to 5-10 overall and 2-2 in the CACC.
Jaden Honis and Emmanuel Smith combined for 55 points. Honis scored a career high 30 points while hitting six three-pointers and finished a perfect 6-6 from the free-throw line. Honis also added four assists, two steals, and one block.
Smith went 9-12 from the field adding seven made free-throws for 25 points. Smith pulled down a team-high nine boards while also adding team-highs in steals and blocks with four each.
Isaiah Honis finished with 16 points along with seven boards and dished out a team-high five assists. Juelz Dickerson scored 11 points while Key'Sean Maynard finished with seven points.
The Lightning held a four point lead by halftime and extended to their largest lead of the game which was eight points in the second half.
Dominican fought their way back in the second half to take the lead and used a 25-12 run to extend to their largest lead of the game which was 13 points. The Chargers had a big second half finishing with a season high 59 points.
Dominican shot 52.5% from the field and 63.2% from beyond the arc. The Chargers forced 23 GBC turnovers and scored 36 points off GBC turnovers. Dominican added 18 fastbreak points while also scoring 34 points in the paint and 21 bench points.
Dominican returns to action Tuesday night when they visit CACC north division rival Bloomfield College of MSU.
