
SECOND HALF COMEBACK FALLS SHORT AS BEARS TOP CHARGERS
Bloomfield, N.J. (1/14/25) The Dominican University New York men's basketball team fell to the Bears of Bloomfield College of MSU as their second half comeback fell short.
Dominican's four game winning streak comes to an end and they drop to 9-6 overall and 4-1 in the CACC on the season. The Bears improve to 9-5 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
The Bears got off to a fast start in the first half outscoring Dominican 53-38 and held their largest lead of the game which was 20 points in the opening half. Dominican ended the first half on a 9-4 run.
Dominican put up a season high 60 points and held the Bears to 50 points in the second half as they fought their way back into the game. Dominican continued to chip away at the BC lead and a jumper by Koi D. Kirk, Jr. cut the lead to two points with 1:09 remaining.
The Bears protected the lead and scored five unanswered points down the stretch on their way to the victory.
Junior guard Isaiah Honis scored a career high 34 points on 13-23 from the field including five three-point field goals. I. Honis also recorded a team-high six assists and pulled down six boards. Isaiah's brother Jaden Honis added 21 points and four assists while Emmanuel Smith scored 18 points and pulled down nine boards.
Kirk finished with 11 points while Joshuel White added eight points and Juelz Dickerson finished with six points.
Edward Ngene recorded a double-double for the Bears with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Ethan Maynard scored a team-high 31 points while Izaiah Poole finished with 18 points.
Dominican finished the game shooting 44.7% from the field and scored 44 points in the paint. Dominican cashed in 24 points over 17 BC turnovers. The Bears outrebounded the Chargers 42-37 while adding 20 second chance points.
The Chargers return to action this Saturday when they host the Wildcats of Wilmington University for a CACC match up on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center at 3:00 PM.
