CHARGERS UPEND WILDCATS IN CONFERENCE ACTION
Orangeburg, N.Y. (1/18/25) The Dominican University New York men's basketball team got back into the win column with a victory on their home court over the Wildcats of Wilmington University this afternoon.
Dominican, #8 in the D2CSC East Region Poll, improves to 10-6 overall and 5-1 in conference play.
The Chargers finished the game shooting 54.5% from the field and 81.8% from the free-throw line. Dominican outrebounded WILMU 41-36 while scoring 62 points in the paint.
The Chargers led early in the first half and never lost the lead building their lead as the first half played on. Dominican extended to their largest lead of the game in the second half which was 31 points on their way to the 97-68 victory.
Emmanuel Smith led all scorers with 20 points while pulling down five boards and adding a career high six defensive blocks. Junior guard Isaiah Honis went 7-15 from the field and finished with 17 points and four steals.
Jaden Honis provided 16 points on 6-11 shooting off the bench while Koi D. Kirk, Jr. finished with 12 points. Juelz Dickerson scored six points and recorded a team-high six boards. Joshuel White scored nine points while adding a team-high five takeaways and dished out five assists.
Hamahrie Bowers led the Wildcats with 18 points while Justin Perez and Izaiah Credle each scored 12 points. Perez and Manir Waller shared a team-high six rebounds while Denim Perkins dished out a team-high seven assists.
The Chargers return to action on Wednesday night when they visit the University of Bridgeport.
