
CHARGERS OUTLAST TIGERS IN OT IN THE 36TH ANNUAL BOBBY MULLIGAN MEMORIAL GAME
Orangeburg, N.Y. (2/1/25) The Dominican University New York men's basketball team outlasted the Tigers of Holy Family University in overtime to extend their winning streak to five games.
Dominican outscored the Tigers 13-4 in the overtime period to secure the victory.
The Chargers, #6 in the D2CSC East Region Poll, improve to 14-6 overall and 9-1 in conference play. The Tigers fall to 6-16 overall and 0-10 in conference play.
Today's game was the 36th Annual Bobby Mulligan Memorial Game. Prior to the game, Koi D. Kirk, Jr. was presented the Bobby Mulligan scholarship award.
Dominican built their largest lead of the game in the first half which was 19 points. The Tigers outscored the Chargers 15-4 down the stretch of the first half and DU held a 46-38 lead at halftime.
The Tigers opened the second half on a 19-6 run capped off by two three-pointers by Omarion Jett on back to back possessions.
Both teams battled down the stretch as the Tigers extended to a six point lead and the Chargers answered using an 8-2 run.
Trailing by three points with timing running out in regulation, Key'Sean Maynard hit a game tying three with 20 seconds remaining. One last defensive stop in regulation by the Chargers sent the game into OT.
In the OT period, Maynard and Isaiah Honis each hit three-pointers to push the Dominican lead to 87-80 in consecutive possessions on their way to the 89-80 victory.
Isaiah Honis led all scorers with 22 points on 8-19 from the field including two from downtown. Honis also picked up six boards, three steals, one assist, and one block. Chance Morrish provided 20 points off the bench going 8-14 from the field.
Emmanuel Smith picked up a double-double scoring 16 points while adding 12 rebounds. Maynard finished with 11 points while Kirk added nine points and eight boards. Joshuel White dished out a team-high seven assists.
The Tigers were led by Ryan Holmes who scored 20 points and dished out eight assists. Najee Coursey finished with 18 points and six rebounds while Omarion Jett also added six boards and scored 12 points.
CJ Mundell scored nine points and recorded a team-high nine rebounds.
The Chargers return to action on Wednesday when they visit Post University.
