
CHARGERS FALL TO EAGLES IN OT
Waterbury, Conn. (2/5/25) The Dominican University New York men's basketball team fell in overtime to CACC north division rival Post University at the Drubner Center. It was DU's second consecutive OT game and third overall on the season.
The Chargers, #5 in the D2CSC East Region Poll, falls to 14-7 overall and 9-2 in conference and their five game winning streak comes to an end.
Post improves to 13-10 overall and 7-4 in conference play after the win and earns a season split with Dominican.
The contest saw seven ties and six lead changes. Post jumped out to their largest lead of the game in the first half which was fifteen points over the Chargers.
After trailing early, the Chargers fought back and took the lead down the stretch of the first half after going on a 29-12 run.
Post regained the lead and extended to a nine point lead in the second half. Dominican went on a 14-0 run to jump back in front.
The Chargers extended to their largest lead of the game which was six points. Post battled back as time ran out in the second half and the game went into overtime.
Dominican scored the first points in OT but a three-pointer by Tre Duncan gave Post the lead and they never looked back. The Eagles outscored the Chargers 18-12 in the OT period to secure the win.
Jaden Honis led the way for the Chargers with 18 points, 12 coming from the charity stripe. J. Honis also finished with three boards, three assists, and three steals.
Jaden's brother Isaiah Honis picked up 17 points on 6-13 from the field and pulled down four rebounds. Emmanuel Smith also went 6-13 from the field and also went 4-6 from the free-throw line for 16 points. Smith also added five rebounds and two steals.
Koi D. Kirk, Jr. finished with 10 points while Joshuel White pulled down five rebounds. Chance Morrish scored seven points while Tyler Edore pulled down a team-high six boards and scored six points.
The Chargers will look to bounce back this weekend when they visit Chestnut Hill College to take on the Griffins.
