
JADEN HONIS NETS 1000TH CAREER POINT IN VICTORY OVER PURPLE KNIGHTS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (2/16/25) Graduate student Jaden Honis recorded his 1000th career point tonight in helping to lead the Dominican University New York men's basketball team to a 90-81 victory in a game played on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center
With the win Dominican improves to 17-7 overall and 12-2 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play.
J. Honis reached the 1000 point plateau with 24 seconds left in the game as he hit two clutch free throws to give DUNY 88-77 advantage. The front end of the trip to the foul line was his 1000th career point.
The Chargers led 41-33 at the half and begin the second period on a 12-4 run to claim their biggest lead of the game (53-47) with 15:45 left. UB would later rally and cut the lead to three points (71-69) with 3:33 on the clock. A 9-3 Charger run, capped off by a layup from Emmanuel Smith rebuilt an 80-72 lead with under two minutes to play and the team went on to the victory.
Chance Morrish recorded a career high 23 points in the win, shooting 8-12 from the floor and 7-8 from the charity stripe, and four rebounds.
J. Honis also finished with 23 points, five rebounds, a team best five assists and three steals in the win.
Freshman Elijah Peters tallied a career high 10 points and three steals.
Smith pulled down a game best 10 rebounds, four blocks, three steals and six points.
Dominican returns to action next Saturday afternoon when they travel to CACC foe, Caldwell University.
