
CHARGERS RALLY TO UPEND GOLDEN FALCONS ON SENIOR DAY
Orangeburg, N.Y. (3/1/25) The Dominican University New York men's basketball team rallied from a 10 points deficit with 3:07 remaining in the second half to defeat the visiting Golden Falcons of Felician Univeristy on Senior Day in the Hennessy Center.
With the win the Chargers, currently ranked fifth in the latest NCAA East Region Rankings, conclude the regular season with an overall record of 19-7 and a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) record of 14-2.
Prior to the start of the game, the team honored seniors: #0 Jaden Honis, #2 Joshuel White, #3 Marquise Harris, #30 Darryl Brown, Jr and #35 Emmanuel Smith.
With 3:07 left in regulation and trailing 79-69, the Chargers scored eight straight points to cut the deficit to 79-77. Felician would lead 82-79 with a little over two minutes to play, but seven unanswered DUNY points (five of them coming from J. Honis) would turn the tide and give Dominican an 86-82 lead with 35 seconds to go.
J. Honis converted two free throw attempts with 12 ticks left and Isaiah Honis closed out the game with a dunk to lift Dominican to the 90-84 victory.
Chance Morrish and J. Honis led Dominican as they scored 20 points and four assists each in the victory, with Morrish adding seven rebounds.
Senior Smith added 17 points, seven rebounds, two blocks and two steals, while I. Honis finished with 11 points, a team best five assists and four caroms.
Dominican opens play in the CACC Tournament this coming Tuesday. The Chargers who are both the North Division #1 seed and the overall #1 seed for the Championship Tournament will host #4S Wilmington University at the Hennessy Center. Tip-off is slated for 7:30pm.
