
#1 OVERALL SEED CHARGERS TOP #4 IN THE SOUTH WILMU TO ADVANCE TO CACC SEMIFINALS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (3/4/25) The Dominican University New York men's basketball team downed the Wilmington University Wildcats in the CACC Men's Basketball Championship Quarterfinals on Coach Baxter Court by a score of 98-83.
The #1 overall seed Chargers defeated the #4 seed in the south division Wilmington University to earn a spot in the CACC Semifinals.
Jaden Honis led the Chargers with 20 points going 6-11 from the field including four three-pointers. J. Honis also dished out a team-high seven assists.
Chance Morrish scored 18 points and recorded five boards, five assists, and two steals. Elijah Peters added 16 points on 6-8 from the field and 4-6 from the free-throw line. Peters also recorded a team-high four steals while picking up three boards and two assists.
Juelz Dickerson provided 14 points off the bench while Koi D. Kirk, Jr. added 10 points off the bench. Emmanuel Smith pulled down a team-high 11 boards.
The opening half was a close contest with the Wildcats jumping out to their largest lead of the game which was seven points. The Chargers ended the half on an 18-8 run and took a 41-38 lead into halftime.
The Chargers extended their lead to double digits after using a 18-3 run. Dominican never looked back from there, extending to their largest lead of the game which was 24 points late in the second half and closed out the 98-83 win.
Dominican finished the game shooting 47.4% from the field. Dominican outscored the Wildcats 56-24 in the paint while also adding 34 bench points.
The Chargers return to action this Saturday for the CACC Semifials from the Gallagher Center hosted by Thomas Jefferson University.
