#7 CHARGERS TO FACE #2 ADELPHI UNIVERSITY IN NCAA EAST REGION QUARTERFINALS

Orangeburg, N.Y. (3/9/25) The Dominican University New York men's basketball team have earned the seventh seed in the East Regional of the 2025 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Tournament and will take on #2 Adelphi University.

Dominican, who was ranked fifth in the last regional rankings, had to await an at-large bid to the tournament after their quest for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship fell short in the semifinals. Eight bids were awarded in the region with champions from the CACC (Bridgeport), ECC (Daemen) and Northeast-10 (SNHU) capturing automatic selections and the others awarded on an at-large basis. The program will be making their seventh overall appearance in the East Regional Tournament. Top seed, Daemen University, will be the host for the East Regional Tournament.

The Chargers (20-8) and the Panthers (26-7) faced off against each other once during the 2024-25 season, with Dominican topping Adelphi, 63-41, in Orangeburg, N.Y. on November 13, 2024. The teams have faced each other seven times with the Panthers holding a 4-3 advantage in the all-time series matchups.

Game times, ticket and broadcast information for the East Region Championship will be announced later this week.

Seven of the eight regional tournaments, consisting of eight teams each, will be played at on-campus sites March 15, 16 and 18 while one regional tournament also consisting of eight teams will be conducted March 14, 15 and 17. The eight regional champions will advance to the quarterfinals in conjunction with the 2025 NCAA Division II Men's Elite Eight. The quarterfinal, semifinal and championship games will be conducted at the Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana, March 25, 27 and 29. The Great Lakes Valley Conference and Evansville Regional Sports Commission will serve as host.

The quarterfinals and semifinals of the Division II Men's Basketball Championship will be carried on ESPN+ while the final will be carried on CBS.
