
MEN'S LACROSSE FALLS TO COUGARS
Caldwell, N.J. (4/2/24) The Dominican University New York men's lacrosse team lost a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game to host Caldwell University, 13-10, this afternoon in a game played at Essex Valley Field.
With the loss, the Chargers now stand at 3-5 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
Sophomore attacker Chad Keyser (Kingston, N.Y.) led the Chargers with five goals.
Sean Cosgrove (Warwick, N.Y.) netted two goals and three assists, while Brenden O'Connor (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) scored one goal and one assist.
Midfielder Kyle Benedetto (Wantagh, N.Y.) added a goal, along with James Conklin (Warwick, N.Y.).
Zachary Souza (Stratford, Conn.) and Terence O'Loughlin (Nanuet, N.Y.) had assists in the loss.
Charger goalie Bryce Layton (Glenville, N.Y.) made 11 saves in the contest.
The Cougars took a 2-0 lead in the first two minutes of the game, but DUNY scored back-to-back goals to re-tie the game. Caldwell closed out the quarter with a goal for the 3-2 lead.
Caldwell opened the second quarter with four straight scores to increase the lead to 7-2, however Dominican closed out the half on a 3-0 run to make the score 7-5.
Dominican outscored their opponents, 3-2 in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 9-8 and scored the first two goals of the fourth to gain their first lead of the game, 10-9 with 7:15 left to play. The Cougars rallied with the final four scores of the game for the 13-10 victory.
The Chargers return to action this Saturday when they travel to Georgian Court University.
