
MEN'S LACROSSE TURNED AWAY BY EAGLES
Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/10/24) The Dominican University New York men's lacrosse team fell in conference action to the Eagles of Post University this afternoon on O'Brien Field.
The Chargers fall to 3-7 overall and 1-4 in conference play while Post improves to 8-5 overall and 4-1 in the CACC.
Bryce Layton (Glenville, N.Y.) started in goal for the Chargers and made 10 saves but suffered the loss. Cole George made eight saves to earn his eighth win of the season.
Post jumped out to an early 3-0 lead but the Chargers scored back to back goals to cut the deficit to 3-2.
Both teams traded goals before the end of the quarter and Post held a 4-3 lead. The second quarter saw an offensive outburst as both teams scored a combined 15 goals and the Eagles finished the half on a four goal run.
Post scored seven unanswered goals in the third quarter and scored the first goal of the fourth quarter capping off a 12 goal run.
Each team added two more goals late and the Eagles secured the 24-10 victory.
Zachary Souza (Stratford, Conn.) finished with a hat trick while James Conklin (Warwick, N.Y.) scored two goals. Cole Vencak (Smithtown, N.Y.) scored one goal and picked up one assist.
Ian Butler (Toms River, N.J.), Ryan Gonzalez (Warwick, N.Y.), Chad Keyser (Kingston, N.Y.), and Eric Greenwood (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) each scored one goal. Terence O'Loughlin (Nanuet, N.Y.) and Kyle Benedetto (Wantagh, N.Y.) each added two assists. Jordan Scott (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada) and Bryce Layton picked up a team-high four ground balls.
Dylan Heald, Ryan Denike, and Leighton Cooke combined for 13 goals for the Eagles. Jaxon Holden picked up a team-high 11 ground balls and Tim Keefe recorded six assists.
The Chargers return to action next Wednesday when they host Wilmington University on O'Brien Field.
