STEIGERT RESIGNS AS HEAD MEN'S LACROSSE COACH
Orangeburg, N.Y. (5/15/24) Dominican University New York Director of Athletics, Joseph S. Clinton, has announced the resignation of Dan Steigert '13, Head Men's Lacrosse Coach, effective May 31st.
"I'd like to thank Coach Clinton for the opportunity to lead the men's lacrosse program. It has been an honor to work with such great men," said Steigert.
Steigert has been at the helm of the Chargers since 2018 and has led his teams to three Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship Semifinal appearances and has participated in the CACC Tournament four of his seven years.
"I'd like to thank Dan for his eleven years of leading our team and mentoring our men's lacrosse student-athletes, especially the last seven seasons as our head coach," Clinton said. "I wish him all the best in his future endeavors."
Under his guidance, numerous players have received All Conference honors and national recognition. Nine players have been named to All-CACC Teams and one player received CSC (formely Co-SIDA) Academic All-American® honors in 2018 and 2019. Two players have received USILA North Region Honorable Mention accolades., while seven student-athletes have received CACC All-Academic Team honors.
"I'm so proud of all of the accomplishments we've had over the past years and I wish nothing but success to the players and program moving forward," Steigert said.
Prior to the 2018 season, Coach Steigert spent four years as an assistant and associate coach of the Chargers.
Steigert spent his collegiate career (2010-2013) as a member of the Chargers. He served as a team captain during the 2012-2013 season and was the 2013 recipient of the Dominican College Men's Lacrosse Coach's Award.
A national search will begin for the program's next head coach.
