
MEN'S LACROSSE DEFEATS TROJANS
Ettrick, Va. (3/9/25) The Dominican University New York men's lacrosse team defeated non-conference opponent, Virginia State University, 13-8 today in a game played at Rogers Stadium.
With the win the Chargers improve to 2-3 overall on the season.
Josh Wesneski got Dominican on the scoreboard with an unassisted goal just five seconds into the contest to re-tie the score at 1-1. A VSU score regained the lead, but the Chargers closed out the quarter with three goals by Zachary Souza and two from Steven Dupras. Nickolas Paletta and Sean Cosgrove recorded assists on two of the scores to five DUNY the 4-2 lead.
Both teams scored two goals a-piece in the second quarter as Souza and Dupras (Ryan Gonzalez) put together a 2-0 run to hold a 6-4 lead at the intermission.
Chad Keyser led DUNY in the third quarter with two goals, while Souza and Dupras picked up assists. Cosgrove closed out the quarter with a goal to give the team the 9-6 lead heading into the final quarter.
Dominican outscored their counterparts 4-2 in the fourth quarter with Keyser, Dupras, Aidan McGrath and Paletta all scoring goals for the final 13-8 win.
Goalie Kyle Janks made 11 saves in the game.
Dupras led the team with four goals and two assists for six game points.
Attacker Keyser finished with three goals and one assist, while Souza had two goals and one assist. Four other Chargers had a goal in the victory.
Dominican returns to action on Wednesday afternoon when they host Southern New Hampshire University on O'Brien Field.
