
MEN'S LACROSSE UPENDED BY PENMEN
Orangeburg, N.Y. (3/12/25) The Dominican University New York men's lacrosse team fell in non-conference action to the Penmen of Southern New Hampshire University this afternoon on O'Brien Field.
SNHU defeated the Chargers by a score of 14-5 as they improve to 2-3 overall. The Chargers fall to 2-4 overall on the season.
Goalkeepers Kyle Janks and Bryce Layton split time in net for the Chargers. Janks got the start and made 18 saves in 45:22 of game action and suffered the loss. Layton entered the game early in the fourth quarter and made two saves.
SHNU starting keeper Patrick Cassidy recorded the victory and made six saves. Matt Roy entered at the start of the second half and made four saves.
Both teams traded goals to open the scoring as Steven Dupras scored the first DU goal. SNHU scored the next four goals but Zachary Souza ended the run and cut the deficit to 5-2.
Three total goals were scored in the second quarter as Souza scored his second of the game and Michael Chies also got on the board for DU. The Penmen took a 7-4 lead into halftime.
SNHU scored all five goals in the third quarter to extend to a 12-4 lead and continued their scoring run into the fourth quarter. Jack Sherry scored midway into the fourth to end the run and the score remained the rest of the way.
Chies also finished with a team-high four groundballs while Michael Aufiero picked up three groundballs and added one caused turnover.
Ryan Gonzalez had a team-high two caused turnovers. Chad Keyser and Sean Cosgrove each had one assist.
The Chargers return to action this Saturday when they visit Wilmington University for their CACC opener.
