
CHARGERS FALL IN CONFERENCE ACTION TO GRIFFINS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (3/22/25) The Dominican University New York men's lacrosse team dropped a conference game to the Griffins of Chestnut Hill College this afternoon on O'Brien Field.
After the loss, the Chargers fall to 2-6 overall and 0-2 in conference play while the Griffins improve to 3-3 and 2-0 in conference play.
DU goalkeeper Kyle Janks made 11 saves but suffered the loss as he falls to 1-4 on the season. CHC keeper Adam Daley recorded his third win as he made 16 saves.
The Griffins jumped in front, scoring the first four goals of the opening quarter. The Chargers ended the run and started a run of their own after Sean Cosgrove scored at the end of the first quarter.
Dominican continued their run after goals by Nickolas Paletta and Josh Wesneski came just eight seconds apart to cut the deficit to one. Steven Dupras scored the fourth unanswered goal to tie the game at 4-4.
CHC regained the lead after the Griffins scored two late goals and held a 6-4 lead at halftime.
The Griffins continued their run extending to 10 unanswered goals pushing the lead to 14-5. Wesneski scored his second of the game late in the fourth quarter but the Griffins closed out the win.
Nate Melnick, Zachary Souza, and Sean Cosgrove each picked up one assist. Wesneski lead the team in ground balls with seven while going 10-19 on faceoffs.
The Chargers return to action next Saturday, March 29th when they host CACC rival Caldwell University on O'Brien Field for Senior Day.
