
CHARGERS LACROSSE DOWN COUGARS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (3/29/25) The Dominican University New York men's lacrosse team upended the visiting Cougars of Caldwell University, 16-5, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest played on O'Brien Field.
With the win Dominican improves to 3-6 overall and 1-2 in CACC play.
Junior attacker Chad Keyser netted three goals and two assists in the win.
Zachary Souza added three goals, while Sean Cosgrove and Nickolas Paletta tallied two goals and two assists each.
Sophomore Steven Dupras recorded two goals and one assists with Michael Aufiero adding two goals.
Jack Sherry and Aidan McGrath had the two other goals for the Chargers, with Rocco Albanese and Jesse Bentrewicz both dishing out an assist.
The Cougars recorded the game's first goal, but DUNY countered with a 5-0 run to close the first quarter with a the 5-1 advantage.
Dominican continued the run with the first two scores of the second frame, before a CU goal made the score 7-2. A 3-0 Charger run saw their lead extend to 10-2 at the intermission.
The only two goals of the third quarter belonged to the Chargers which put them ahead 12-2 and they outscored the Cougars 4-3 in the final quarter for the victory.
Starting keeper Kyle Janks picked up the win playing almost 52 minutes and making 15 saves.
Bryce Layton played almost six minutes in the Charger net with three saves, while Jake Mahan played final 2:49 and made one save.
Prior to the start of the game, the team honored seniors: #1 Daren Rodney, #2 Sean Sullivan, #3 Eric Greenwood, #5 Jordan Scott, #6 Zachary Smiley, #21 Sean Cosgrove, #24 Patrick Roderka, #28 Alexander Martinez, #33 Alberto Santana Mendez and #66 James Conklin.
