Coach Sheiner was hired in July of 2024 as the eight head coach in program history.

Sheiner comes to Dominican University New York after spending the past 21 years at the helm of the Kean University Cougars, an NCAA Division III men’s lacrosse program.  The winningest coach in program history, Sheiner amassed 223 wins and qualified for the post season in 18 of his 21 seasons.

While at Kean, the Cougars made two appearances in the NCAA Tournament (2008, 2021), won a Colonial States Athletic Conference Championship (2021), a Skyline Conference Championship (2008) and an ECAC Metro Region Championship in 2010.  Sheiner earned one Skyline Conference Coach of the Year (2008) accolades.  During his tenue at Kean, he coached 96 All-Conference selections, 11 All-American honorees, six Scholar All-American honorees, two Conference Player of the Year winners, one Conference Defensive Player of the Year winner, two Conference Rookie of the Year winners, and three Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year selections.

Prior to Sheiner’s time at Kean, he spent four years (1997-2001) as the head boy’s lacrosse coach at Indian Hills High School where he led the team to back-to-back state tournament appearances and was named the New Jersey Lacrosse Coach of the Year for the Rizk Division in 2000.

The summer of 2014 saw Sheiner serve as an assistant coach for the Israel Lacrosse Association, where he helped the Israeli National Team finish seventh in the World Games and this past month he was the North Head Coach for the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division III Senior All-Star Game.

A 1995 graduate of Kean University, Sheiner earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and a Bachelor of Science in political science and criminal justice.  In 2001, he earned his mater’s degree in special education/initial certification from William Paterson University.
