West Haven, Conn. (9/8/24) The Dominican University New York men's soccer team opened the 2024 season on the road with a non-conference game with the University of New Haven.
UNH scored five goals on their way to a 5-0 victory to improve to 2-0 overall. With the loss, Dominican falls to 0-1.
Joshua Kaandorp made seven saves but suffered the loss. UNH keeper Archie Watts recorded the shutout win in goal.
Pau Santanach and Deni Iljazi scored back to back unassisted goals just over one minute apart in the first half to give New Haven the 2-0 lead.
Late in the second half, New Haven extended their lead to 3-0 after an unassisted goal by Albert Porqueras.
Sandro Branquinho and Daniel Santos each added late goals for the 5-0 lead. Thomas Lyden picked up assists on each goal.
DU returns to action Wednesday night on the road against the Lions of Molloy University.
