Rockville Centre, N.Y. (9/11/24) The Dominican University New York men's soccer team fell in non-conference action to host, Molloy University, 4-2 this evening in a game played at John A. Darcy Field.
Following the loss Dominican now stands at 0-2 overall, while Molloy improves to 2-1 on the season.
The Lions scored the lone goal of the first half and added two more in the 72nd and 75th minutes for the 3-0 lead.
Dominican got on the scoreboard at the 76:25 mark as junior Henrique Zachello (Recife, Brazil) netted his first goal of the season off the cross from the right side by Lorenz Utz (Bamberg, Germany).
Zachello made the score 4-2 with a penalty kick goal at 89:36 to conclude the game.
For the game, Zachello finished with one goal and one assist.
Keeper Joshua Kaandorp (Tilburg, Netherlands) made two saves in the loss.
Molloy held the 12-11 edge in shots and a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks for the contest.
The Chargers return to action on Saturday afternoon in their home opener against St. Thomas Aquinas College. Game time is scheduled for 2:30 pm on O'Brien Field.
