Orangeburg, N.Y. (9/25/24) The Dominican University New York men's soccer team earned a come from behind win for their first victory of the season over the College of Staten Island College this afternoon in non-conference action on O'Brien Field.
The Chargers improve to 1-5 overall while the Dolphins drop to 2-4 overall.
CSI keeper Justin Karaburan made five saves but suffered the loss. Miguel Hernandez made eight saves and earned the victory in his first start of the season.
Peter Larose scored the first goal of the game at 18:15 to give the Dolphins the 1-0 first half lead.
The score remained 1-0 until late in the second half when Henrique Zachello scored his team leading third goal of the season on a penalty kick to tie the score at 77:23.
Later in the 86th minute, Oscar Chazalet put the Chargers on top and Dominican would hold on for the 2-1 win.
Dominican fired 22 shots in the game including 16 in the first half with Matheus Carneiro Xavier leading the way with six. Zachello and Chazalet each fired four shots.
The Chargers also held the edge in corner kicks 9-4.
The Chargers will complete their homestand as they return to conference play this Saturday when they host Georgian Court University.
