Orangeburg, N.Y. (9/28/24) The Dominican University New York men's soccer team fell to the Lions of Georgian Court University this afternoon on O'Brien Field.
The Lions improve to 3-4-1 overall and 2-1 in conference play while the Chargers fall to 1-6 overall and 0-3 in the CACC.
The Lions earned the come from behind victory with two second half goals with the trying goal 20 seconds into the second half and the game winner in the 89th minute.
Ayendi Batista earned the win in net while Joshua Kaandorp recorded seven saves but suffered the loss.
Svante Haakansson scored the first goal of the game in the 8th minute. Mikey Mallon picked up the assist.
The Chargers tied the game after Armando Morales scored his first goal of the season off the double assist from Alex Garcia Buil and Henrique Zachello.
In the 26th minute, the Chargers took the lead after Oscar Chazalet scored off the pass from Morales who picked up the assist.
Gijs Van Eif tied the scored 20 seconds into the second half to tie the game and Haakansson scored his second of the game at 88:11 on a ball that deflected and hit the post and in.
GCU held the edge in shots 21-9 and corner kicks 8-2.
Matheus Carneiro Xavier led the Chargers with three shots while Oscar Chazalet took two shots.
The Chargers return to action on Wednesday night on the road against Bloomfield College of MSU.
