CHARGERS FINISH IN 1-1 TIE WITH BEARS

Bloomfield, N.J. (10/2/24) The Dominican University New York men's soccer team played to a 1-1 tie with the Bears of Bloomfield College of MSU in CACC action on Foley Field in Bloomfield, N.J.

The Chargers now hold a record of 1-6-1 overall and 0-3-1 in conference play while the Bears now stand at 1-2-3 overall and 0-1-3 in the CACC.

Joshua Kaandorp started in goal for the Chargers and his record now stands at 0-6-1 on the season. Matthew Brun got the start on goal for the Bears and is now 0-2-2 on the season. 

Each goal was scored late in the first half with Dominican breaking the scoreless tie at the 41:17 mark after Guglielmemo Picariello scored his second goal of the season.

The Bears tied the game over one minute later in the 43rd minute when Christian Jhon Cruz scored as both teams entered halftime tied. 

The Chargers fired nine shots in the second half while the Bears fired six shots but none capitalized on a go ahead goal and the game finished in a 1-1 tie, 

The Chargers held the edge in shots with 14 while the Bears finished with 11 shots. Dominican also held the edge in corner kicks 6-3. Thiago Micki led DU in shots with four while Oscar Chazalet, Eduardo Moreno Silva, and Picariello all finished wirh two shots.

The Chargers will return home next Tuesday when they host the Cougars of Caldwell University for a CACC match up at 3:30 PM on O'Brien Field.
