Lafayette Hill, Pa. (10/12/24) The Dominican University New York men's soccer team fell in conference action to the Griffins of Chestnut Hill College this afternoon by a score of 3-1.
The Chargers fall to 2-7-1 overall and 1-4-1 in conference play. CHC improves to 2-5-4 overall and 1-3-2 in the CACC.
DU goalkeeper Joshua Kaandorp suffered the loss while Rodrigo Artiga got the start in goal for the Griffins and earned the win by making six saves.
The Griffins scored two early goals in the first half as Jose Cuadra scored the first goal of the game in the 7th minute and Santi Linares extended the lead to 2-0 in the 17th minute. Linares also recorded an assist on the first CHC goal.
The Chargers got on the board later in the first half when Brandon Chacon scored in the 45th minute to cut the deficit in half. Gaetan Mainaud assisted the goal.
The score remained until the 73:09 mark when Jimmy Paz extended the Griffin lead to 3-1 as CHC secured the win. Dane Bodziak recorded an assist on the final goal.
The Chargers outshot the Griffins 20-7 and outshot CHC in the second half 13-2. Mainaud led the way in shots with five while Oscar Chazalet and Guglielmemo Picariello each added three shots. Chacon and Derek Martinez each added two shots.
Dominican also held the edge in corner kicks 10-3. Artiga made four saves in the second half to help keep the lead.
The Chargers return to action next Saturday when they visit Goldey-Beacom College for a conference game at 2:30 PM.
