Orangeburg, N.Y. (11/2/24) The Dominican University New York men's soccer team fell 2-1 this afternoon to the visiting Tigers of Holy Family University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game played on O'Brien Field.
Following the loss, the Chargers are now 2-12-1 overall and 1-8-1 in conference play.
Prior to the start of the contest the team honored seniors: #0 Alessandro Guzzinati, #1 Joshua Kaandorp, #4 Derek Martinez, #7 Niccolo Moretti, #8 Armando Morales, #11 Alex Garcia Buil, #12 Thiago Micki, #15 Simon Ostrowski.
Holy Family struck for the first goal of the game in the 19th minute for the 1-0 advantage. The Chargers tied the score at the 27:31 mark on a direct free kick from 30 yards out by Matheus Xavier.
The final goal of the game came right before the break to give HFU the 2-1 lead and eventual win.
Keeper Kaandorp made two saves in the game.
The Tigers had a 10-9 edge in shots, while the teams had four corner kicks a-piece.
Dominican returns to action on Thursday afternoon in the CACC finale as they travel to Felician University.
