THREE MEN'S SOCCER PLAYERS NAMED TO 2024 CACC ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM

2024 CACC Men's Soccer All-Academic Team

Orangeburg, N.Y. (2/17/14)  Three members of the Dominican University New York men's soccer team have been named to the 2024 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) All-Academic Team as was announced yesterday by CACC Commissioner Dan Mara.  The honorees represent all 12 conference member institutions.

Derek Fisher, Alessandro Guzzinati and Henrique Zachello were all named to the team for the first time in their careers.

To be eligible for CACC All-Academic status, a student-athlete must possess a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 at the end of the immediately preceding term (may include summer for fall-sport participants), must be enrolled for at least two full-time semesters at his/her current institution, and must be a second-year student-athlete at his/her current institution. The CACC All-Academic Team was instituted during the 2004-05 academic year.

Georgian Court University and Holy Family University each claimed 15 honorees to tie for the most in the conference this year. CACC regular-season champion Post University placed 12 student-athletes on the list.

Nine qualifying men's soccer student-athletes own perfect 4.00 GPAs - Bruno Cakurs and Alex Tan from the University of Bridgeport; Dominican University New York's Alessandro Guzzinati; Georgian Court's Alessandro Cavallini and Sebastian Derflinger; Jesus Gonzalez of Holy Family; Simon Hemler, Felix Nassen, and Diego Righi of Post; and Wilmington University's Charlie Phillips. Including those nine, 28 All-Academic selections maintain a GPA of 3.90 or higher.

Twenty-nine of the honorees are repeat winners. Among them, eight are being honored for the third time – Georgian Court's Joseph Ficarotta, Ryan Lee and Jason Spencer; Cameron Michalak of Goldey-Beacom College, Holy Family's Kevin Duffy and Luke Shank; and David Bollmann and Imran Sekagya of Thomas Jefferson University.
