TRACK AND FIELD COMPETE AT NYU DIII INVITATIONAL
New York, N.Y. (2/2/24) The Dominican University New York men's and women's track and field teams competed at the NYU DIII Invitational held tonight at the Armory Track and Field Center.
MEN'S RESULTS
- Freshman Nicalis Williams (Cohoes, N.Y.) had the high finish of fourth place in the triple jump event with a jump of 13.83m (45'4.5"). Kenney Lauredent (Pomona, N.Y.) finished in ninth place with a jump of 13.51m (44'4").
- Sprinter Brian Thompson (North Bergen, N.J.) took 13th place in the 200m dash with a time of 22.97, while Jeffrey Li Rivera (Suffern, N.Y.) finished in 57th place with a time of 24.54.
- Sophomore Samuel Fileen (Monroe, N.Y.) competed in the 400m dash where he ran a time of 54.08 to finish in 26th place. Thiea Shea (Kingston, Jamaica) took 27th place with a time of 54.14 and Steven Smith (Yonkers, N.Y.) finished in 46 place with a time of 56.25.
- In the 800m race, Jose Grullon (San Juan, Puerto Rico) took 53rd place with a time of 2:13.77, with Nate Thomas (Chicago, Ill.) taking 55th place with a time of 2:14.83. Jehu Ermilus (Brooklyn, N.Y.) finished in 60th place with a time of 2:17.73.
- Prince Copeland (Haverstraw, N.Y.) competed in the mile run where he ran a time of 5:14.20 to finish in 67th place. Zachary Dertinger (Livingston Manor, N.Y.) took 79th place with a time of 5:53.66 and Eslian Henriquez Flores (Monroe, N.Y.) finished in 82 place with a time of 6:11.90.
- The 4x400m relay team of Thompson, Thomas, Shea and Copeland took 17th place in the event with a time of 3:40.76. The team of David Castro (Nyack, N.Y.), Sam Samala (Nanuet, N.Y.), Delon Smith (Bronx, N.Y.) and Li Rivera finished in 22nd place with a time of 3:53.33.
- Lauredent competed in the long jump where he took 18th place with a jump of 6.04m (19' 9.75").
WOMEN'S RESULTS
- Krystal Parris (Toronto, Canada) finished in 17th place in the 60m dash unseeded with a time of 8.81 and Tiara Cargill (Queens, N.Y.) finished in 22nd place with a time of 8.87.
- Sophomore Jayda Jones (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) took 35th place in the 60m dash preliminaries with a time of 8.84.
- In the 200m dash, Cargill took 50th place with a time of 29.44, while Kiana Thomas (Riviera Beach, Fla.) finished in 53rd place with a time of 29.86 and Jones finished in 57th place with a time of 30.31. Parris took 58th place with a time of 31.31.
- Julia Dunne (Babylon, N.Y.) competed in the 400m run where she ran a time of 1:08.29 to finish in 40th place.
- In the mile run, Steffy Espejo (Tunja, Colombia) ran a time of 6:09.70 to take 38th place. Anna Murphy (Holbrook, N.Y.) took 50th place with a time of 6:33.79, while Patience Burgess (New City, N.Y.) finished in 55th place with a time of 6:52.83 and Rachel Reagan (Dumont, N.J.) took 56th place with a time of 8:10.78.
- The 4x400m relay team of Dunne, Espejo, Anjalice Arias (Middletown, N.Y.) and Murphy finished in 18th place overall with a time of 4:45.01.
- Miranda Tucker (Nassau, Bahamas) finished in 15th place in the shot put event with a throw of 10.52m (34' 6.25"). Tori Benson (Buffalo, N.Y.) took 25th place with a throw of 9.59m (31' 5.75").
