
WILLIAMS AND DUNNE RECORD HIGH FINISHES AT WEST POINT TUNE UP
West Point, N.Y. (2/17/24) The Dominican University New York men's and women's track and field teams took part in the West Point Tune Up Meet held today at the Army-Gillis Field House.
On the men's side freshman Nicalis Williams (Cohoes, N.Y.) had the high finish of second place in the triple jump event, while in the women's events Julia Dunne (Babylon, N.Y.) took fourth place in the 400m dash.
MEN'S RESULTS
- Freshman Nicalis Williams (Cohoes, N.Y.) had the high finish of second place in the triple jump with a distance of 13.36m (43' 10"). Kenney Lauredent (Pomona, N.Y.) took seventh place with a jump of 12.12m (39' 9.25") and Jeffrey Li Rivera (Suffern, N.Y.) finished in ninth place with a jump of 11.79m (38' 9.25"). Amani Acosta (Warwick, N.Y.) had a jump of 11.24m (36' 10.5") to finish in 10th place.
- Li Rivera had the finish of third place in the long jump with a distance of 5.90m (19", 4.5'). Acosta followed in sixth place with a jump of 5.37m (17' 7.5").
- In the 60m dash, Brian Thompson (North Bergen, N.J.) finished in fourth place with a time of 7.18.
- The 4x400m relay team of Theia Shea (Kingston, Jamaica), Samuel Fileen (Monroe, N.Y.), David Castro (Nyack, N.Y.) and Thompson took fourth place with a time of 3:43.67. Jehu Ermilus (Brooklyn, N.Y.), Acosta, Prince Copeland (Haverstraw, N.Y.) and Jose Grullon (San Juan, Puerto Rico) finished in fifth place with a time of 3:50.81 and the team of Connor Grable (Laurelton, N.Y.), Jameel Richardson (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.), Sam Samala (Nanuet, N.Y.) and Delon Smith (Bronx, N.Y.) take sixth place with a time of 3:56.72.
- Williams took fifth place in the high jump event with a jump of 1.85m (6' 0.45").
- Li Rivera also had a fifth place finish in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.35.
- Shea competed in the 400m dash and finished in ninth place with a time of 53.33, while Fileen took 10th place with a time of 53.69. Castro ran a time of 56.78 to finish in 16th place and Samala took 18th place with a time of 57.91.
- The 3000m run saw Zachary Dertinger (Livingston Manor, N.Y.) finish in ninth place with a time of 11:17.32.
- The shot put event saw Lawrence Ribeiro (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) take 11th place with a throw of 9.93m (32' 7").
- Copeland took 14th place in the 800m run with a time of 2:06.81, while Grullon finished in 16th place with a time of 2:11.32. Aidan Nelson (Tappan, N.Y.) took 17th place with a time of 2:12.83 and Ermilus ran a time of 2:13.78 to finish in 19th place. Eslian Henriquez Flores (Monroe, N.Y.) took 20th place with a time of 2:42.66.
- The 200m dash saw Smith take 14th place with a time of 24.60. Williams finished in 17th place with a time of 25.31 and Li Rivera took 24th place with a time of 26.52.
- In the mile run, Henriquez Flores ran a time of 6:00.91 to finish in 28th place.
WOMEN'S RESULTS
- Julia Dunne (Babylon, N.Y.) had the high finish of fourth place in the 400m dash with a time of 1:09.80.
- The 3000m run saw Steffy Espejo (Tunja, Colombia) take sixth place with a time of 12:25.58.
- In the shot put event, Miranda Tucker (Nassau, Bahamas) had a throw of 10.16m (33' 4.0") to finish in ninth place, while Tori Benson (Buffalo, N.Y.) took 10th place with a throw of 9.42m (30',11.0").
- Anna Murphy (Holbrook, N.Y.) ran in the 800m event where she finished in ninth place with a time of 2:39.52. Patience Burgess (New City, N.Y.) took 11th place with a time of 2:58.68.
- In the 200m dash, Jayda Jones (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) took 10th place with a time of 29.38. Tiara Cargill (Queens, N.Y.) finished in 11th place with a time of 29.57, while Kiana Thomas (Riviera Beach, Fla.) ran a time of 29.98 to finish in 13th place. Krystal Parris (Toronto, Canada) took 14th place with a time of 30.15.
- Thomas competed in the 60m hurdle preliminaries and took 12th place with a time of 10.53.
- In the 60m dash preliminaries, Cargill took 15th place with a time of 8.57. Parris finished in 19th place with a time of 8.75 and Jones took 20th place with a time of 8.84.
