
FILEEN WINS 400M DASH AT WEST POINT TUNE UP MEET
West Point, N.Y. (2/22/25) The Dominican University New York men's track and field team traveled to the West Point Tune Up meet held today.
Junior Samuel Fileen won the 400m dash to have the high finish of the day for the Chargers.
Aaron Williams took third place in the 200m dash, while the 4x400m relay team of Sam Samala, Steven Hanna, Conor Grable and Jeffrey Li Rivera finished in fifth place.
MEN'S RESULTS
- Junior Samuel Fileen won the 400m dash with a time of 51.48. Thiea Shea took fifth place with a time of 54.46 and Steven Hanna ran a time of 57.13 to take 13th place. Sam Samala took 14th place with a time of 57.93, while Conor Grable finished in 15th place with a time of 59.08 and Jameel Richardson took 17th place with a time of 1:01.73.
- In the 200m dash, Aaron Williams took third place with a time of 22.19. Richardson finished in 24th place with a time of 24.84, while Aidan Mallon took 32nd place with a time of 25.63.
- Samala, Hanna, Grable and Jeffrey Li Rivera had a fifth place finish in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:47.98.
- The 60m hurdle event finals saw Rivera finish in sixth place with a time of 9.00. In the pre-lims of the event, he finished in eighth place with a time of 9.15.
- Deshawn Douglas took part in the mile run and finished in seventh place with a time of 4:47.94. Prince Copeland finished in 13th place with a time of 4:54.31, while Aidan Nelson took 15th place with a time of 5:00.61. Eslian Henriquez Flores ran a time of 5:51.53 to finish in 23rd place.
- Williams competed in 60m dash preliminaries and took 10th place with a time of 7.19, while Mallon finished in 23rd place with a time of 7.53.
- In the 800m run Copeland had the high finish of 11th place with a time of 2:06.48. Fileen took 14th place with a time of 2:07.30, while Douglas finished in 15th place with a time of 2:11.76.
- The long jump saw Rivera take 11th place with a jump of 5.88m (19' 3.5").
- Nelson also competed in the 3000m run where he took 16th place with a time of 10:37.76. Zachary Dertinger finished in 18th place with a time of 11:14.80, while Flores took 21st place with a time of 11:49.63.
