
SAMALA TAKES SIXTH PLACE IN 500M DASH AT FASTRACK LAST CHANCE MEET
Staten Island, N.Y. (2/28/25) The Dominican University New York men's track and field team traveled to the Fastrack Last Chance Meet held today at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
Sophomore sprinter Sam Samala had the high finish for the Chargers as he took sixth place in the 500m dash with a time of 1:15.21.
Steven Hanna took seventh place (1:16.73) in the 500m dash, while Jeffrey Li Rivera took seventh place in the triple jump (12.55m (41', 2.25").
Aaron Williams rounded out the top ten fnishes in the 200m dash where he took ninth place (22.30).
MEN'S RESULTS
- In the 500m dash Sam Samala took sixth place with a time of 1:15.21. Steven Hanna finished in seventh place with a time of 1:16.73.
- Jeffrey Li Rivera competed in the triple jump where he took seventh place with a jump of 12.55m (41', 2.25").
- In the 200m dash, Aaron Williams finished in ninth place with a time of 22.30. Jameel Richardson took 51st place with a time of 24.06.
- In the 60m hurdles preliminaries, Rivera finished in 11th place with a time of 9.19.
- The 400m dash saw Samuel Fileen take 16th place with a time of 51.40. Thiea Shea finished in 24th place with a time of 52.67.
- Aidan Mallon took 18th place in the 60m dash with a time of 7.58.
- Rivera also competed in the long jump where he took 25th place with a jump of 5.65m (18', 6.5").
- Deshawn Douglas competed in the mile run and finished in 25th place with a time of 4:57.25.
- In the 3000m run Aidan Nelson ran a time of 10:07.02 to take 29th place overall.
- Douglas also ran in the 800m run where he finished in 35th place with a time of 2:05.32. Prince Copeland took 36th place with a time of 2:05.34.
