WILLIAMS WINS 200M DASH AT PURPLE & GOLD OPEN

West Chester, Pa. (3/22/25)  The Dominican University New York men's track and field team took eighth place at the Purple & Gold Open held today and hosted by West Chester University.

Aaron Williams had the high finish for the Chargers as he won the 200m dash.

The 4x400m relay team of Thiea Shea, Samuel Fileen, Steven Hanna and Williams took third place in the event, while Jean Franco Del Valle Guerrero also had a third place finish in the high jump.

Jeffrey Li Rivera took fourth place in the 110m hurdles and the 4x100m relay team of Aidan Mallon, Williams, Rivera and Maurice Douglas also had a fourth place finish.

MEN'S RESULTS

  • Sprinter Aaron Williams won the 200m dash with a time of 22.18.  Maurice Douglas took 20th place with a time of 23.88, while Aidan Mallon finished in 51st place with a time of 25.07.  Jameel Richardson finished in 52nd palce with a time of 25.12 and Sam Samala took took 56th place with a time of 25.27.
  • The 4x400m relay team of Thiea Shea, Samuel Fileen, Steven Hanna and Williams took third place with a time of 3:31.42.  The team of Samala, David Castro, Prince Copeland and Deshawn Douglas finished in ninth place with a time of 3:43.22.
  • In the high jump, Jean Franco Del Valle Guerrero took third place with a jump of 1.85m (6' 0.75")
  • Jeffrey Li Rivera took fourth place in the 110m hurdles with a time of 16.91.  Guerrero finished in fifth place with a time of 17.34.
  • The 4x100m relay team of Mallon, Williams, Rivera and M. Douglas took fourth place with a time of 44.24.
  • In the 400m dash, Fileen took seventh place with a time of 51.77.  Shea finished in 14th place with a time of 53.77 and Hanna took 18th place with a time of 54.75.  Douglas ran a time of 55.17 to take 21st place, while Samala finished in 25th place with a time of 55.86.  Richardson and Castro tied for 28th place with a time of 56.01 and Connor Grable took 32nd place with a time of 56.12.
  • Deshawn Douglas took ninth place in the 800n run with a time of 2:08.38, while Prince Copeland finished in 13th place with a time of 2:09.37. 
  • In the long jump, Rivera finished in 14th place with a jump of 5.50m (18' 0.5").
  • Aidan Nelson ran a time of 2:15.92 to take 23rd place, while Zachary Dertinger finished in 35th place with a time of 2:26.17.  Eslian Henriquez Flores took 39th place with a time of 2:35.96.
  • The 1500m run saw Douglas take 17th place with a time of 4:25.19.  Copeland finished in 38th place with a time of 4:37.27 and Nelson took 44th place with a time of  4:42.15.  Dertinger finished in 58th place with a time of 5:04.63, while Flores took 60th place with a time of 5:30.49.
  • Mallon took 39th place in the 100m dash with a time of 12.27.
