CHARGERS SUFFER FIRST CONFERENCE LOSS OF THE SEASON TO REDHAWKS
Rochester, N.Y. (3/9/24) The Dominican University New York men's volleyball team suffered their first East Coast Conference (ECC) match of the season to the Redhawks of Roberts Wesleyan University this afternoon.
The Chargers fall to 9-8 overall on the season and 2-1 in the ECC while the Redhawks improve to 5-10 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
The Redhawks took a 1-0 match lead after a 25-18 victory in the opening set. RWU edged the Chargers 26-24 for the 2-0 advantage and then completed the sweep with a 25-20 victory in the third set.
Phinehas Wiley (Cedarburg, Wis.) led the way for the Chargers with 12 points scored, 11 kills, and added three digs. Ayden Shaw (Centennial, Colo.) recorded eight kills and eight points while Luke Koster (Geneva, Ill.) added team-highs in assists with 24 and digs with 11.
Tyler Roukey (Hudson, Ohio) added eight digs while Jacob Davidson (Bloomington, Ind.) recorded five kills and scored 5.5 points.
Jonah Grbic scored a team-high 12 points for the Redhawks and recorded 11 kills. Riley Green recorded a match high 35 assists while Moises Jimenez recorded 12 digs.
The Chargers return home next Friday when they host Kentucky State University on Coach Baxter Court at 7:00 PM.
