DOMINICAN MEN'S VOLLEYBALL EARNS 2023-24 ECC ACADEMIC TEAM OF EXCELLENCE AWARD
COLONIA, N.J. (7/22/24) The East Coast Conference Academic Team of Excellence Awards for the 2023-24 academic year were announced on Monday afternoon.
The Dominican University New York men's volleyball program earned their first Academic Team of Excellence Award this year.
The ECC Academic Team of Excellence Award is presented to the team with the highest cumulative grade point average in their respective sport. Roberts Wesleyan University led the way with six teams winning the honor. Mercy University was the runner-up with five teams honored, while Molloy finished with three and District of Columbia earned two.
There were seven repeat winners of the award. Mercy men's lacrosse extends the conference's longest streak with their fifth straight honor. Each of the other six repeat winners claimed the award for the third consecutive season.
80 percent of the conference's teams (118 total) achieved a 3.0 team GPA or higher. UDC's tennis teams led the way with the women holding the highest overall GPA of any ECC team (3.82), while the Firebird men had the highest of any men's team (3.78).
100 percent of the ECC's men's tennis, men's volleyball, women's lacrosse, women's soccer, softball, women's tennis, women's volleyball, women's bowling, and Esports programs achieved a 3.0 team GPA or higher.
