
CHARGERS FALL TO SHARKS IN FIVE SETS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (2/13/25) The Dominican University New York men's volleyball team fell to the Sharks of Long Island University in a thrilling five set match on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.
The Chargers fall to 1-8 overall on the season while the Sharks improve to 7-2 overall.
Dominican won back to back competitive sets 28-26 and 33-31 to take the 2-0 match lead.
LIU answered by winning the next two sets by a score of 25-20 to comeback and tie the match at 2-2 and force a fifth set.
Both teams traded points to begin the fifth set but LIU used a 7-3 run to complete the comeback and secure the win.
The Chargers were led by Blake Krapf who recorded a career high 25 kills while adding one service ace and one block assist for 26.5 points. Krapf also picked up seven digs.
Gavin Tate recorded 13 kills, three block assists, six digs, one service ace, and 15.5 points scored. Ayden Shaw and Daniel Malcolm each finished with 10 kills. Shaw also picked up eight digs while Malcolm had a team-high five block assists.
Freshman setter Jamel Toste recorded a career high 47 assists while Tyler Roukey picked up a team-high 13 digs.
The Chargers return to action tomorrow with two matches. Dominican opens the day at home against Wentworth at 12:00 PM before traveling to LIU for a rematch with the Sharks at 5:00 PM. 67 n
