
WILDCATS SWEEP CHARGERS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (2/1625) The Chargers returned to action at home for a non-conference match with the Wildcats of Daemen University on Coach Baxter Court.
Daemen improved to 5-3 overall while the Chargers fall to 1-11 overall on the season.
Daemen opened the match with a 25-19 victory in the first set and then followed up with a 25-22 victory in the second set for the 2-0 advantage. The Wildcats held a four point lead down the stretch of the third set. Despite a 6-2 run by the Chargers to tie the score at 23-23, Daemen scored the next two points for the 25-23 win in the third set to complete the sweep.
Ayden Shaw, Gavin Tate, and Blake Krapf combined for 18 of DU's 21 kills. Krapf led the way with seven kills while Shaw picked up six kills three digs. Tate added five kills, five digs, and one block assist.
Jamel Toste recorded a team-high 18 assists and three service aces which was also a team-high.
The Chargers return to action next weekend when they hit the road to take on Saint Francis University for back to back matches on Friday night and Saturday night.
